Executive Function

Students with language-based learning differences often present with a complex array of symptoms and characteristics. There is a high co-occurrence of learning differences, such as dyslexia, with language impairment, speech sound disorders and Developmental Language Disorder. While not every student requires services, many students benefit from the additional support that speech and language therapy provides.

All therapists are ASHA certified
Therapy sessions are integrated into the school day
Therapist and teacher collaboration ensures direct application of therapy skills

Social Cognitive Strategies™ (S.C.S.)

Research has identified a 75% co-occurrence of social communication difficulties in children with learning differences. Students with social challenges often lack the ability to think through the multiple perspectives and succeed in daily social situations. For these individuals, “social thinking” must be learned and practiced. Students at Cambridge work on social skill development 1:1 or in small groups with authentic sessions led by ASHA certified speech and language pathologists.

The Benefits of S.C.S.™

Research has shown that EQ (Emotional Intelligence) is a better predictor of success than intelligence quotient (IQ) or technical skills (Feist & Barron, 1996).

Helps students to use higher-level cognitive strategies to improve their social skills & understand the “why” and “how”  that motivates socialization and critical thinking

Utilizes evidence-based social instruction for our students, providing increased self awareness & knowledge of social skills

Focuses on skill application in social interactions, allowing students to see that they can generalize these skills in any social environment
